Edit a recipe

Change a live menu item's ingredients, method, photo, description, allergens and nutrition in Recipe Manager.

Before you start

Active menu items are locked. If you see "This Recipe is part of active menu, Kindly change its status to inactive before Updating it", go to Menu Manager > Menu Items, set the item to Non-active, then come back.

Edit a menu item

Open Recipe Manager > Menu Item, find the dish and choose Edit. The form has two steps.

Step 1: Ingredients

  • Menu Item Name and Menu Category.
  • The ingredient table: ingredient, Qty, Unit, Cost, Order Type and Calorie. Add lines with + Add New Row.
  • Total Cost updates as you go.

Step 2: Instructions

  • Upload Image (.png, .jpg or .jpeg).
  • Description. Fetch Description suggests one for you.
  • Cooking Instruction steps and Recipe Notes.
  • Advanced: Prep Time (Mins) and Serving.
  • Nutritions Facts: calories, carbs, fat and protein.
  • Allergens and Additional Info.

Click Continue to save. The image and description are what a dish needs, with a price, to go live. See Put a dish live.

Edit a sub recipe

Open Recipe Manager > Sub Recipe, find it and choose Edit. Fetch Method suggests method steps.

Every save keeps a version

Saving creates a new and keeps the old one in History. See Versions and history.

Bigger changes

For a reworked recipe, it is usually better to go back through Engineering, where ingredients are matched and checked: on the Engineering Recipes list choose ⋯ > Duplicate to edit, change the copy and promote it as a new version. See Approve and promote.
