Put a dish live
What a menu item or combo needs before it can be activated, and how to fix the "Menu enabling failed" message.
A dish is on your live menu when its status is Active. Newly promoted dishes arrive Non-active.
What a dish needs
Before it can be activated, a menu item or combo needs all three:
| Needs | Where to add it |
|---|---|
| A description | Recipe Manager > Menu Item > Edit, second step (INSTRUCTIONS). For a combo, edit the combo. |
| An image | The same place. A placeholder image does not count. |
| A selling price | Menu Manager > Menu Items: click the item's name. See Pricing and profitability. |
Activate it
On Menu Manager > Menu Items, change the item's Status to Active.
"Menu enabling failed"
If something is missing, ChefAdmin tells you which:
- "Please ensure the recipe has a description (Goto Edit Recipe page)."
- "Please ensure the recipe has an image (Goto Edit Recipe page)."
- "Please ensure the recipe has a price (Click on Menu Item Name)."
Add what is missing, then try again.
Editing a live dish
Active dishes are locked so the menu cannot change by accident. To change one, set it to Non-active, make your changes in Recipe Manager or Menu Manager, then set it back to Active. Each change to the recipe is kept as a . See Versions.
Missing supplier or allergen details
Ingredients without a supplier, allergens or calories do not stop a dish going live. They do make the cost and allergen information less reliable, so keep Procurement clear. See Inventory Manager.
